Science is a very important area of the curriculum and has links to many other subjects. For this reason, science has become part of the cross curricular approach to teaching. For example, if children are exploring a topic based under the sea, children will learn about animals and habitats that coincide with this.
In Key Stage 1, children explore the world around them, finding out why things happen and how they affect their lives.
In Key Stage 2 the children develop their investigative skills, so that they are able to carry out fair tests to see if their predictions are correct.
In Foundation stage, science is taught under the umbrella 'understanding the world'.
